Ontario Equestrian works closely with the provincial discipline associations which allow you to compete at sanctioned competitions, across the province at all levels.
A separate membership is required if you are competing to earn points toward year-end championships. Please ensure that you purchase your Ontario Equestrian membership first, before purchasing theirs.
Ontario Dressage
Ontario Dressage is committed to developing the talent, the art and the sport of dressage in Ontario. If you are competing in dressage in Ontario, this association membership is for you.
Ontario Dressage presents awards to its year-end winners at all levels of sanctioned dressage competitions (including virtual) held in Ontario annually.
Along with provincial leaderboards and awards for all levels of sanctioned dressage competitions held across the province, Ontario Dressage members can also access clinics and bursaries to help continue their education.
To be eligible for an Ontario Dressage award you MUST be a member of Ontario Dressage no later than July 1st of the current year. Ontario Dressage memberships can be purchased through Ontario Equestrian.
Competitive & Associate Membership: $25.00
Ontario Eventing
Competitors and owners at all levels of sanctioned Horse Trials in Ontario are required to hold an Ontario Eventing Association membership.
Ontario Eventing presents awards to its year-end winners at all levels of sanctioned horse trial competitions held in Ontario annually.
Along with provincial leaderboards and awards for all levels of sanctioned competition held across the province, Ontario Eventing members can also access clinics and bursaries to help continue their education.
Ontario Eventing memberships can be purchased through Ontario Equestrian.
Competitive Junior (under at Jan 01) Membership: $25.00
Competitive Senior Membership: $53.00
Associate Membership (non-competitive with voting rights) $30
Family Membership: $126
Includes a maximum of:
- Two senior and two junior riders, or
- One senior and three junior riders
All riders must be immediate family members living at the same address.
Ontario Hunter Jumper Association
If you are competing at Gold Hunter / Jumper shows in Ontario, you’ll need an OHJA membership in addition to your OE membership.

If purchased prior to Jan 01, members receive a $10 discount. Points will only be accumulated from the date of registration. Ontario Hunter Jumper Association memberships can be purchased through Ontario Equestrian.

EV60, EV75, EV85, EV90: Ontario Equestrian, Ontario Eventing Association, EC Bronze Sport License
EV100, EV105: Ontario Equestrian, Ontario Eventing Association, EC Silver Sport License, EC Horse Recording
EV110 and above: Ontario Equestrian, Ontario Eventing Association, EC Gold Sport License, EC Horse Recording or EC Horse Passport
*Day memberships may be purchased at each competition, instead of full OEA memberships. Please note, when a day membership is used, points earned at the event do not count toward your OEA year-end points.
Competition Membership Requirements for Horse Owners (If Rider is Not the Horse Owner)

LICENCE AND PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPETING AT THE GOLD LEVEL
- EC Gold competitive license: must be held by riders, owners, lessees, coaches, trainers, and officials.
- EC Horse license – annual license required for horses. The EC recording number for the current year must be provided to all competitions that the animal is entered into.
- EC Passport/Recording Number: all horses competing at EC gold-sanctioned shows must possess an EC Horse Recording Number.
- If you are competing at the Platinum Level, you must possess either an EC or FEI Passport.
You should provide a photocopy of EC, OE, and OHJA licenses to all competitions with your entry form.
