ITTY GRITTY Criteria & Selection Process

Built for the next generation of talent, Itty Gritty is Ontario Equestrian’s exciting new pilot program designed to identify and support emerging athletes on the path toward high-performance sport. Targeting five promising athletes ages 10 to 13 currently competing at the 1.00m–1.15m level who demonstrate future podium potential, Itty Gritty creates an early introduction to the high-performance pathway and culture.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for ITTY GRITTY, athletes must meet the following requirements:

  • Ride with a coach holding a Licensed Coach Status (Ontario Equestrian will assist ITTY GRITTY coaches with Coach Status)

As this is a pilot year, Itty Gritty will focus on supporting show jumping athletes. The 2027 program will serve as an opportunity to evaluate and refine the program model, with future expansion into additional disciplines to be considered in subsequent years.
