Ontario Equestrian is excited to continue a training and certification opportunity for Competition Development (HP1) Olympic and non-Olympic discipline candidates this year!

This virtual cohort program brings together candidates, led by Ruth Allum (Master Coach Developer & HP1 Competition Development Coach) and a team of experienced Coach Developers, multisport facilitators, and technical discipline experts. Participants will receive training and mentoring to prepare for or complete certification.

Program Details:

  • Start Date: March 10, 2025
  • Duration: Throughout 2025, with one in-person workshop in October at Ontario Equestrian’s GRIT athlete training camp.
  • Eligibility:
    • Access to a computer or laptop (phones/tablets not recommended) with high-speed internet, video camera, microphone, Microsoft Word, and Gmail for Google Classroom access.
    • Candidates for evaluation must demonstrate at least two (2) years of coaching experience producing athletes competing at:

Pathway Options:

1. Cohort – Training ($1,500 + HST)

For coaches not currently working with athletes at the required level or focused on professional development.

2. Cohort – Training & Evaluation ($2,600 + HST)

For coaches working with athletes at the appropriate level. Includes portfolio-building, evaluation tasks, and opportunities for re-submission throughout the cohort.

Evaluation Requirements:

Coaches registering for evaluation must meet the following:

  • Age: 22 years (as of Jan 1, 2025)
  • Equestrian Canada Coach Status: Minimum EC Registered Coach Status
  • Experience: 2+ years coaching athletes competing at required performance levels
  • Mandatory Training:
    • NCCP Make Ethical Decisions online evaluation (CAC Locker)
    • NCCP Managing Conflict Online Evaluation (CAC locker)
    • NCCP Leading Drug-Free Sport eLearning
    • EC Conditioning the Sport Horse
    • EC Understanding Equine Medication Control
  • Access: Facility or environment with appropriate riders and horses for video recording
  • Recommended Training: EC NCCP Design an Equestrian Sport Program (via EC ECampus)

Additional Information:

  • Late Evaluation Fee: $500 + HST for incomplete evaluations carried into the next cohort.
  • Re-Evaluations: Must be completed within two years of the original evaluation date; additional fees apply.

  • Fee: $75 + HST
